JAJI, NIGERIA<\/strong> \u2014 In a move that signals a paradigm shift for African defense self-reliance, UNICCON Group (An indigenous defense company through its subsidiary Babasky technologies)<\/strong>, whom is also in Joint Venture (JV) with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON)<\/strong>, has successfully conducted an advanced technical demonstration of indigenous tactical attack drones and air defense systems at a secured military facility in Kaduna State in collaboration with DICON. This high level demonstration was observed by the different representatives from all military\/paramilitary armed forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise, held on December 23, 2025, showcased a suite of technologies designed to address modern asymmetric threats, positioning UNICCON as a formidable player in the continent’s burgeoning defense technology sector.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of UNICCON Group, Professor Chuks Ekwueme, praised the innovation and hailed it as a giant leap towards countering enemy combatants in warfare. \u201cWe are very big on electronic warfare, which we know is the direction of warfare today. The enemies are using these technologies. We should also be producing solutions to counter because we have to think ahead,\u201d Professor Ekwueme noted.

The Director General of DICON, Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya, While making his remarks, said the move by the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), to sign the new DICON ACT into law in 2023 is a significant step in creating local solutions to the security challenges that confront the nation. He also noted that UNICCON Group is a major player that has delivered on their mandate in that direction.


On his part, Professor Ekwueme also lauded the president saying \u201cUNICCON Group has taken the bull by the horn, to initiate local technology in Nigeria, this is the reason behind forming a joint venture with DICON, in line with the new DICON act, the DICON-UNICCON Limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are keeping to our promise to make local content unique to Africa. UNICCON Group produced Africa\u2019s first humanoid robot and AI system and since then we have deployed intelligent technology across different areas, especially in the military space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we are presenting today is great (because) we have taken into consideration the peculiarity of the Nigerian defence\u201d.

Some of the new innovations presented by UNICCON include:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNIKAM-SERIES (Loitering Munition\/Kamikaze): High-Speed and AI Precision Strike, with fully autonomous, semi-autonomous and manual variants.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the demonstration was the UNIKAM-M02<\/strong>, a locally developed multi-rotor Loitering Munition System (LMS) Designed for rapid response and precision, the “kamikaze” UAV is engineered to navigate complex operational environments with high-fidelity control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
